Back linking - who can be good link partners?

Certain things to consider when you back link:

  • The site to which you are linking should be a site with a similar theme. For e.g. if you are a bankruptcy lawyer, you may link to an attorney/CPA website but linking to a jewellery website for instance is not very valuable. This is based on the ranking results we have seen linking with websites in similar industry. When Google crawls your site, it figures out your site theme/industry and values other links in similar industry that back link to you if they are credible. This is purely based on experience & results that we have seen....(Click on Read more below to see full article)

Google Panda update...are you affected?

Google introduced an important update in Mar 2011 called Panda update after the engineer Navneet Panda who worked towards adding machine learning techniques in Google Panda update to allow Google to go a better job at ranking websites. Here are some possible impacts that Panda might have on your website:

Yes, we did it again. For our client (Tax Tiger), you can check the ranking for keyword 'tax problem' which has over 12,000 searches/mo & highly competitive. We have managed to rank it on Top 10 of Google search results. We hope this drives a lot of traffic and potentially some good business for our client.

If you have a good organic ranking, should you invest in Adwords?

This is one of the questions I am asked by customers "Do I need to do Adwords if I have good organic ranking?" and I want to be upfront and tell you that customers who do SEO with us also do Pay Per Click. To some, this sounds bizarre, and I am going to make an attempt to explain you why so. Here are some considerations for using Google AdWords even if you are on Top 10 on organic listing:

Business survives solely on Google Adwords for their marketing!

Recently, I heard an interesting remark from my customer "We are not doing anything other than Adwords! Last month we got 16 jobs from the Internet!" I was thrilled to hear this from this customer for whom we manage Google Adwords campaign. Also the whole idea that a business could only rely on Google Adwords (and no Yellow pages, newspaper or magazine Ad) for their marketing seemed too good to be true!

Google retires Position Preference Feature!

Google announced that the position preference bidding option is being retired. As of April 5th, position preference can no longer be enabled for campaigns through AdWords. Campaigns already using position preference will still have it enabled, but if you turn position preference off in one of your campaigns, you won't be able to turn it back on. Starting in early May, Google will begin disabling position preference for any campaigns still using it.
