This is one of the questions I am asked by customers “Do I need to do Adwords if I have good organic ranking?” and I want to be upfront and tell you that customers who do SEO with us also do Pay Per Click. To some, this sounds bizarre, and I am going to make an attempt to explain you why so. Here are some considerations for using Google Ads even if you are on Top 10 on organic listing:
- With Google Ads, you can be above the organic results in the Top 3 spots where the probability of clicking is higher than anywhere else on the page. So if your site is in 4th position & below, you may not get whole lot of clicks. Google studies confirm to this on eye tracking tests that top places receive more clicks than bottom or side results.
- Another very good consideration is that you only pay Google for clicks and nothing for just running your campaign. You can setup your campaign to invite only highly targeted traffic to avoid getting garbage clicks or clicks without results.
- There are up to 20 possible places on the first page (10 organic, up to 10 AdWords) and you can be aggressive with your marketing by capturing 2 places 1)Organic 2) Via Adwords. Again, most often the Adwords top 3 positions get you great results!
- Not to miss out, that you can place a custom marketing message on your Ad with Adwords, while you cannot do so with organic results or it takes time for the new title message to show up. So if you are to do a marketing promotion like an anniversary sale, thanksgiving specials etc. Adwords is the way to go.
Hope that helps answer the question of why spend with Google Ads & invest on doing a Pay Per Click program fro your business if you are already getting higher organic ranking.
